Psalm 27:5

Death Throes Of A Fatally Sick World

The world is sick.  Every week seems to bring news of more startling events from across the globe.  TV stations alert us to “breaking news” events with reporters at a loss to explain why these things keep occurring.  We are witnessing firsthand the chaos left behind from all these acts of madness.  Whether it is from terrorism, from religious fanatics with misplaced zeal, burning churches, bombings by suicide bombers to kill as many people as they can while taking themselves out too, or automatic weapons — the hatred is real.  There is no denying people are becoming more segregated rather than more accepting of one another’s differences, especially when it comes to faith or their particular brand or type of religiosity.  We only have to look at the bombing this week in Sri Lanka killing hundreds of innocent people, the burning of Notre Dame cathedral in Paris, France, or the atrocity committed by a lone gunman in New Zealand recently to see how disturbed people are becoming by the confusion that is out there.  The world indeed is a very confusing place unless you have and are led by God’s Holy Spirit.

What is going on?  Why are all these terrible things happening?  Who is behind all this madness and chaos?  What will happen next?  Where is it safe to go anymore?  When will it all end?  The answers to these questions are found in one book.  That book is the Holy Bible.  The Bible does speak about wars, rumours of wars, terror by day or by night.  Matthew 24:6-7 highlights in the ESV “And you will hear of wars and rumours of wars.  See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet.  For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places”.  Reading Proverbs 3:25-26 it states “Do not be afraid of sudden terror, nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes;  for the Lord will be your confidence, and will keep your foot from being caught”.  Also, in Psalm 91:5-8 “ You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.  A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you.  Only with your eyes shall you look, and see the reward of the wicked”.  These scriptures outline how God protects those who do not serve the god of this age, the devil (2 Corinthians 4:4).

The terror and calamity that is all around us is manufactured by the devil.  We do not see him doing it because he is invisible to the human realm at this time but he is present nonetheless.  Refer to Job 1:6-7 where it says “Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them.  And the Lord said to Satan, “From where do you come?”  So Satan answered the Lord and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it.”  Yes, that is correct, Satan is walking back and forth amongst us!  Why?  Because the perverted maniac only has a short time left to infiltrate, persecute and destroy humanity, as many as he can get, through drugs, alcohol, depression, suicide, disease, war, and any way he can kill us...the more the better as far as he is concerned!

He puts ideas and attitudes — bad, wicked, evil attitudes into the minds of people so that they will be at war with one another...precisely how World War I and II started.  If he is having a “good day at the office” those people will kill one another.  Satan has got what he wants...as many as he can wipe out in order to prevent people knowing the truth about God and to interfere with God’s plan for humanity.  The only thing is there are a few, the remnant, who are fighting back through spiritual warfare because God has saved these from certain death (Ephesians 6:10-13).  God’s people have a “hedge” of protection around them because they have been called out of the world to keep the true Sabbath, from sunset Friday to sunset Saturday (Exodus 31:12-17) and not the fake or counterfeit Sabbath which the rest of the world keeps on Sunday.  These are they who keep all of God’s 7 annual Holy day festivals (Leviticus 23).   We can read about this hedge in Job 1:10 “Have you not put a hedge around him and his house and all that he has, on every side?  You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land”.  These words were spoken in front of God’s throne and are a direct quote right out of Satan’s mouth, accusing Job of being faithful to his Creator only because of the protection God gave to Job.

The devil continues to go before the throne of God accusing the brethren day and night in order to destroy us (Revelation 12:10).  He is insanely jealous of the human race created by God to be part of the God family, who will inherit and live eternally with God the Father and His Son, Jesus the Christ.  Satan knows he only has a short time to cause as much destruction as he can to try to prevent us from having a loving relationship with our Creator (Revelation 12:12); he knows that we will be judging angels in the future (Satan is a fallen angel) and that he cannot inherit what we will inherit after the return of Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 6:2-3, Hebrews 1:14).

Satan and his demons are the cause of the death throes of this fatally sick world in which we live.  Ever since the Garden of Eden, he has wasted no time in driving a wedge between God and man (Genesis 3).  When sin entered the world everything changed.  God, being perfect, had a backup plan, and so we live on only because of Jesus Christ’s willing sacrifice of dying in order to give us life.  A price had to be paid for that sin, our sin.  As we continue to live on in this fatally sick world, we watch world events unfold and pray earnestly for Christ to return.

No matter how much we want to stop the world and get off, or try to save others from pain and suffering, we know God has all things totally under control, allowing what He allows for the benefit of all, who will one day realise that humans do not have the answer to any form of government or rulership, and are in desperate need of the return of Christ when His Kingdom will be ushered in.  Until then we march on fighting against the evil realm as per 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.  For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ”.
