Valuable Watershed Moments |
|||||||
On Sunday 18th December 2022 a group of 9 ladies from the Adelaide congregation were able to attend a high tea occasion over a couple of leisurely hours at The Watershed Function Centre and Café for a delightfully relaxing time. https://g.co/kgs/4CoemR The lovely invitation was graciously extended by Margaret Robertson who has had a very sad time due to the death of her husband Malcolm earlier this year, and only a few months prior to this when her mother died. Margaret thoughtfully handmade our yellow sunflower themed invites herself as she likes to engage in craftworks — you may have had the opportunity to purchase fundraising cards for LifeNets featuring art from Margaret — my treasured card has gorgeous flowers in a tall vase and is put to good use as a functional bookmark in my Bible while being an object of beauty. There were scones with jam and cream, Portuguese tarts, a nice variety of pastries, savoury snacks, and of course tea and coffee as per personal preference as well as several fruit juices on offer. As the time unfolded we were heartily engaged in meaningful communication among all with polite occasional laughter interspersed at appropriate moments as the ladies enjoyed each other's company. The setting was a balanced mixture of indoor as well as outdoor seating over vast decking adjacent to wetlands where ducks and birdlife lived and floated by as patrons relaxed watching their antics. The venue provided a large covered area for inclement weather which proved very popular. While we were there it was not hard to notice that the place was "buzzing" with much activity as it was almost full to capacity. There were several large pieces of artistic work hung on their walls in prominent places strategically showing the artist's name and this was appreciated by the art lovers amongst us. The theme of the Ladies Morning Tea event was based on the Sunflower which God designed and created for us to enjoy. We were given yellow gift bags with goodies inside to take home to enjoy and they included a skillfully drawn and coloured sunflower complete with its meaning of "the sunflower is a symbol of love, hope, happiness, joy, truth, peace, and faith". Also inside the bag was a sealed yellow scroll with the following four scriptures which are most meaningful to Margaret. 1 Chronicles 16:34 "Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good"; 2 Peter 1:7 "...to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love"; Galatians 5:22 "But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness"; Revelation 22:21 "The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen". These scriptures really reflected the Spirit present with us as we gave God grateful thanks for the spiritual family He has placed us within while another scripture came to mind…Psalm 133:1 "Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! To sum it all up — good company, good food and beverages, with unhurried positive speech in a most conducive atmosphere between the Adelaide ladies as we strengthened our bonds with one another. We hopefully look forward to more of these relaxed events where we can all share and share alike without having to rush off to work or other commitments. On behalf of everyone present we extend our thanks formally to our hostess for her thoughtfulness and the infectious joy Margaret exudes in creating unity and peace as Agapé love for your spiritual family is fully evident. | |||||||
